Introducing Me

Melba July, M.Ed.

– an educator for those who want to learn.

My name is Melba but I answer to the nickname, Mel. I am in pivot mode as I move into new territory as a D.R.E.A.M. Strategist (educator). I have quite the story to tell; so, I’ll be brief!

I grew up in a military family with all the trappings of discipline and perseverance. My father, an Air Force Technical Master Sergeant; and mother, a critical care Registered Nurse raised 5 children on air bases all over the western U.S. In all that traveling, I learned – if you can’t make friends where you are, you may have a hard time making friends at all. I think every child should have a chance to sink or swim in a diverse friendship pool.

Fast forward to high school – I was super busy with extra curricular activities of Basketball, *Choir, *Debate, *Drama, Future Teachers of America, Intramural Football, Office Interns, *One-Act Play, *Solo and Ensemble, *Spelling, *Track and Field (4X440, Shot Put and Triple Jump), working part-time, plus Top 10% of my graduating class. (*UIL competitions)

I thought I was 10-feet tall and bullet proof. Until I failed out of Texas A&M University because my math foundation was so faulty (and lost the Air Force ROTC Scholarship I had been awarded). This is why I started my tutoring business – to ensure future generations have a fighting chance to participate in STEM subjects and employment opportunities.

You can see where I get my, “Never say die – say KILL!”, attitude. People always seem amazed that I don’t look like I have 40 year old children. My D.R.E.A.M. Strategy serves me very well, I love it and want to share it with everyone. This is why I won’t give up my skincare business. I believe there are many people – women and men – who can use the products I love to improve the health and appearance of their skin. Plus the unique strategies we design together increase confidence.

That’s where I stand now. Working full-time as a Substitute Teacher, tutoring and teaching skincare and confidence strategies. Please check out the D.R.E.A.M.S. tab – I’d love to connect with you!

Update – 03/2025

The 2nd catastrophic stroke ocurred on 8/24/2022. Recovery has been much slower; I cannot and will not stop working to return to walking and being a contributing member of society. I am starting with these pages. Please look around, tell your friends/family and tell me if you find them useful. Thank you in advance!

Update – 08/2021

I’ve made a big move – from Texas to Oregon! Keep your eyes here as I stabilize and move forward! Looking forward … and looking forward to great things!

Update – 11/21/2024

My big move turned intro a second catastrophic stroke. I am now in recovery and learning to walk again. I was fortunate to receive a one-handed keyboard which is a test of patience to use; however, learn to use it well is one of my next goals. Thank you for staying with me. check out my newest pages.
