HELLO and welcome – if you are or have a student who struggles in a subject, you can find help here!
I am writing Ed. Help to give you a place to find information and ask questions about helping your student (or yourself) understand problem solving and how the process elevates your confidence in all areas of life.
Currently a M.Ed. degreed educator, my specialties are math, STEM subjects and English Language Arts.
Math – I work with all ages PK-adult. From learning numbers through mental math up through Algebra II, my outlook on tutoring is to assess where each student stands with respect to State expectations and stabilize their foundation to support scaffolding to new information. Contact me here for more specific help!
Science – My B. Science contains a minor in the Physical sciences including Astronomy, Geology, Meteorology, and Oceanography.
English Language Arts (ELA) – From vocabulary through grammar, and syntax/sentence construction – I can help improve your writing skills.

If you have a student in your home, chances are great that your student IS or will be starting classes soon! What can you do to help them?
The most important thing you can do for 3rd -7th grade students … is make sure they are “Mental Math” capable. What do I mean? I’m glad you asked!
I am convinced that most students who have a hard time with math struggle with mental math. Students who use mental math to calculate rather than adding or multiplying on their fingers can pay more attention to learning concepts when they are not slowed down by calculation confusion. Regrouping is a hard concept to master if it’s hard to mentally calculate what needs to be regrouped.
Hang out with me and let’s help students at all levels get on top of the skills that may be lagging due to Covid. My first suggestion: randomly test your student’s mental math skills by asking them … ” What’s 6 X 7?” (or 25 X 8) Choose any pair of numbers you know the answer. (Here are electronic flash cards that may help 3rd-8th grades.)
Until next time … Dream BIG and let your D.R.E.A.M.S. take you there! 😀
